Damaged panels vulnerable to rot

This majestic bracket fungi emerging from a damaged panel on a sliding door vehicle.

The outer layer to most panels in vehicle construction is the protective layer. Once this GRP film is damaged, water etc. is permitted to enter the panel core and nature will do the rest.

If vehicle damage is repaired at the earliest convenience, much future expense may be spared. However, if left unchecked  panel integrity will be compromised.

Drumack frequently undertake repairs to commercial vehicles. Special alloy sections can be sourced for repairs to most UK mainland manufactured vehicles.

A variety of techniques are available for panel repairs dependent on the severity of the damage. Replacement panels are also stocked and a full painting service offered.

‘Move it or lose it!’ – the VOSA way

Care must be taken when loading and unloading vehicles as the position of the load will have consequences in the event of sudden braking or a collision.

In the case of a rigid vehicle with rear access only, the load will be removed from the rear of the vehicle. After a number of drops it is possible that the front axle could become overloaded as the centre of gravity moves forward – something worth considering when loading the vehicle.

For a curtainsider operator, without due consideration to the order of delivery, it is possible that a space could develop between the load and the bulkhead.

Drumack Coachworks can advise you on appropriate load safety devices and load security systems as well as supplying load track, load straps, lashing rings and spring loaded shoring bars.

Farm Families Health Checks

Free health assessments and advice, tailored for you.

The farm families health checks programme is a one-stop mobile facility offering free health assessments and advice tailored specifically for you.

The health checks can be completed quickly and will offer a good indicator of your health, including risk of heart disease, early detection of diabetes and emotional health and wellbeing. You will also find out about the support services that are locally available to you.

There are two parts to the health checks, a medical assessment and a lifestyle assessment. To gain the full benefit of the service, it is recommended that you take part in both assessments.

What will the medical assessment involve? (10-15 minutes)

If you decide you would like a medical assessment, you will be invited to meet with one of our qualified nurses who will provide more details of the programme.

Following your written consent, the nurse will complete a short medical assessment and then offer the following tests:

Blood pressure;

Weight and body mass index (BMI);

Cholesterol;

Blood sugar;

Lung function;

Mental wellbeing.

What does the lifestyle assessment involve? (5-10 minutes)

The second part of the health checks is the lifestyle assessment.

During the lifestyle assessment, you will have the opportunity to discuss health issues with the nurse. Depending on your lifestyle, you will receive advice tailored for you on smoking, healthy eating, physical activity and alcohol consumption.

The nurse can also signpost you to a service that can ensure you are getting the grants and benefits you are entitled to.
